Kenitec energies in flowing streams suited for low head turbine

Most neglected but of great potential are kenetic energies in rivers/stsreams, sea waves, and wind. Torque is amplified by multiple propellers in a common shaft to power gear pumps. Several gear pumps can be connected in series to increase water pressure to that required by a low head electrric generator. Several headers from sets of gear pumps can be accumulated into an accumulator with a relief valve. The system can ...more »

Global Warming

Mitigation of Global Warming at this late date will be HUGELY expensive and need a three-prong approach:1 buy sustainable energy equipment and barter it with foo big to fail fossil fuel firms for fossil fuel reserves to be held underground for posterity, 2 Buy fossil fuel reserves, 3 carbon capture and storage

Tighten PCV hoses at your smog check station!

PCV (positive crankcase ventilation), the first smog device mandated to be installed in cars beginning in 1964. PCV captures blowby gases escaping into the crankcases below the pistons and redirects the toxic blowby gases back into the intake manifold through a series of large rubber hoses and a pulsing valve. New PCV hoses are airtight and works well until several years later when the rubber hoses tend to lose it pliabilty ...more »

Install fans in main sewage pipes

Often, I get nearly knocked out from inhaling sewage gases oozing through manholes in big cities. They are so bad . I just thought about installing big fans to suck air through the manholes to keep the sewage gases moving in the right directions that is toward the treatment plants where they belong! This can also help suck in heavy traffic smog to help reduce air pollution on the busy streets. The fans can be solar powered ...more »

Reducing humanities aquatic thermal footprint.

In our effort to address aquatic warming, humanity needs to tax, restrict, reduce, and redirect as much of the current source of aquatic thermal contamination. To help stop and reverse the effects of our human related aquatic thermal accumulation. Our thermal contribution has accumulated, because teh oceans have a predominant downwards direction of conduction. We need to seriously address this problem, just as aggressively ...more »

Time for diesel electric semi trucks.

Its time that we engineer diesel electric semi trucks to run up and down our highways. There is no reason that we can't engineer highly effient diesel powered generators, that would then power electric drive motors for our semi truck industry. To help reduce both fuel consumption and carbon output. Batteries might also be a viable cost effective option with this type of application, given all of the downhill braking that ...more »

DirecTV and e-waste - A Time for Change

Issue: DirecTV's hardware leasing practices directly contributes a significant amount of e-waste to our environment. Consider the following examples: a. When a consumer cancels service, DirecTV selectively decides what receivers/hardware is to be returned. The hardware works without issues but DirecTV only wants the newer equipment returned and leaves the perfectly working equipment with the customer. It cannot ...more »

Gasoline containers.

Guess I am a little behind on issues. Recently someone stole 2 gas containers I have had for many years. I didn't know until I went to find replacements about the new EPA regulations on gas containers. The only thing I could buy had the new spouts. This is totally absurd and ridiculous. It's almost impossible to use these without spilling gas. I never spilled any with the old ones. Just try to fuel a small leaf blower ...more »

Campaign: Expanding the Conversation on Environmentalism and Working for Environmental Justice

Multiple Ideas

-Set up recycling pick up at all post offices. I've never lived anywhere that had easily available recycling centers, but every town has a post office and trash pick-up. -Charge extra money for things in individual packaging. If it is turned into the recycling center, then they get their extra fee back. Don't want to pay extra, buy in larger containers. -Get rid of plastic packaging, bags, wrappers, etc. Go to biodegradable ...more »

Make your Vote Count

I think the most important thing that any of us can do to initiate a conversation about the environment, energy or global warming is to work to reform our election process. Even those who start in politics wanting to make big changes are beholden to corporate money for election financing and thus our lawmakers report to interests that are directly counter to those that would make a difference in protecting our world. ...more »

Mercury Use in Humans

When my son was diagnosed with Autism I became aware of how very toxic Mercury is. I am aware that much of the Mercury used in this country comes from use in filling teeth. I think that this practice is archaic, particularly since there are other alternatives for filling teeth. I think it is time that Mercury is banned from use in the mouth or any product that is ingested or injected. It is so highly toxic, and ...more »

Make simple living seem like a Cool idea

Create a game (for all ages) where you compete to use as few resources as possible, and enlist some popular recognizable faces to help promote it. A few opportunities for a younger person to experience actively reducing resource use will get them thinking and creating on their own. At our house, we play "living at sea on a sailboat", so we think of how much water and electricity we use, and how to make healthy dried food ...more »

THE MECHANICS OF EARTH’S CLIMATE ENVIRONS

THE MECHANICS OF EARTH’S CLIMATE ENVIRONS “The more you understand it, the more you realize you don’t have to answer the question of whether or not something is conscious in order to define consciousness”. But, he said, it’s important not to come up with a definition before we’ve understood all the elements that need to be encompassed in that definition, least we suffer what he calls “the heartbreak of premature definition,” ...more »

Make Woodstoves meet Health Guidelines per Law

DHHS Essential Services policy requires all threats to life and health be stopped and prevented. Wood smoke is 12 times more carcinogenic than tobacco smoke that is banned. It pollutes regions more than cars that are regulated. So require NSPS stds to meet EPA guidelines for a safe pm2.5 dose of raw wildfire and wood smoke at 180 mcg/m3,hr. It will help air quality, global warming, lower chemicals, clean up communities, ...more »

A better understanding of global warming.

Humanity needs to realize that CO2's are not the only massive environmetal contribution that has accumulated. Our just as massive aquatic thermal contribution has also accumulated and spread worldwide. Triggering the rapid rate of decline in the planetary ice and greatly contributing to climate change. This is why the ice is declining over ten times faster than their CO2 related predictions. The oceans have a predominant ...more »

Pet Meds-please share your knowledge

I tried Sentry natural Defense (flea and tick for dogs over 40 lbs.) It's natural, I actually like the smell and it may do a good job. I never found out. The first try, my shepherd/lab mix's fur started coming out in clumps on her back (2 days later). I reported it and they told me to bathe her w/ dish soap, use Vit E and ice packs for inflammation. I tried it because I did extensive research through vets, naturopathic ...more »

Encourage Alternative Commuting & Avoid Wasting Public Funds

An important issue to consider for improved air quality is transportation in daily commuting to work. This implies cracking the solo-driving conundrum. Recently, the Bay Area suggested to tax drivers up to 10 cents per mile to ease traffic and pollution. On the contrary, instead of increasing taxes, we suggest to reduce costs and reduce spending by encouraging employees, employers and their businesses to use alternative ...more »

Soils biosphere

I we accept the Bible as an historical document. We find that Mathusala lived 1059 years and Noah lived 1050 years. When the great flood was over lifespan was reduced to 100 years plus or minus. This conveys that the terrestrial mineral trace elements had largely been moved from the terrestial to the deep marine oceanic. Since the beginning of ON-OFF irrigation and other agricultural practices the mineral trace elements ...more »
