Often, I get nearly knocked out from inhaling sewage gases oozing through manholes in big cities. They are so bad . I just thought about installing big fans to suck air through the manholes to keep the sewage gases moving in the right directions that is toward the treatment plants where they belong! This can also help suck in heavy traffic smog to help reduce air pollution on the busy streets. The fans can be solar powered... more »

Its time that we engineer diesel electric semi trucks to run up and down our highways. There is no reason that we can't engineer highly effient diesel powered generators, that would then power electric drive motors for our semi truck industry. To help reduce both fuel consumption and carbon output. Batteries might also be a viable cost effective option with this type of application, given all of the downhill braking that... more »
There is no chance we can reduce global point source pollution (like cars) enough to matter at this point. (Will we invade China or Brazil to force them to drive alternate days or to stop burning rain forest?) We should continue changing the dynamic of technology, sure. But we must push a "New Era", possibly with a "Moonshot" political impetus, regarding big picture mitigation: In America we clean nearly every drop... more »
The top two polluters on this planet receive some of the largest tax breaks on this planet. It's time to stop enabling polluters. If the EPA really wants to clean up the planet, they will start with the worst offenders.
Federal suggestions for pollution control and car emissions testing in a local area facility. Federal reward for compliance and caring.
In Lancaster County PA, many Farmers tell you they don't read or speak English so they doln't know they are breaking the law when their livestock stands in creeks or when they burn huge plastic containers off State Road 89s beween Strasburg and Delaware. I'm an educator and I wonder why we can't change our school buses to be hybrid or more energy efficient in some way!
How does a manufacturing compliance officer decide if they need to follow New Source Review (NSR) or New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) regulations if they have repaired or replaced a "facility" that resulted in an increase in emissions as defined by EPA? This is important since the requirements for NSR and NSPS are not the same. For example, a NSR review is required if the capital costs of the work exceeds 20%... more »
The EPA seems reluctant to assess compliance with ozone standards in Metropolitan Statistical Areas on an annual basis. I live in an area that has exceeded the ozone standard for 4 years and yet we are officially still in attainment. The EPA should review ozone attainment annually to protect citizens from unhealthy air.
The Am Lung says EPA is going to publish a map of wood smoke pollution problem areas. Good. Put put a range on the total pm estimated so gov will know the pm likely. It is not NAAQS but tells where threats are believed to be occurring and threats to life and health have to be stopped and investigated per essential services policy of the DHHS. Then burning by stoves can be prohibited in problem areas. Pellet stoves will... more »
